Description:

  • Ensures production targets are met by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, reporting results of the processing flow in production meetings and/or tool box meetings.

  • Takes full responsibility of the quality and product that is processed within the shared service areas.

  • Manage, develop, motivate and hold accountable direct reporting staff.

  • Provide technical support, implement cost reductions, and maintain a strong working relationship with the engineering & operations team.

  • Fosters a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.

  • Investigate and analyze any hardware & overhaul concerns in the shared services areas causing quality and delivery issues by reviewing procedures, specifications, instructions, processes, and equipment to ensure compliance to applicable drawing, specifications, and standards in an effort to resolve Quality and Delivery concerns.

  • Creates and use standard work processes to execute work in a structural and consistent manner with shop input and buy-in.

  • Identify and lead strategic and tactical projects related to share services with regards to improvements in flow, TAT, and cost.

  • Facilitates incorporation of new technologies and provides ongoing training and coaching to employees to ensure adherence to job traveler/router and process methods sheets.

Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager and Engineering/Quality Manager

Qualification:

  • 3 to 5 years of supervisory and engineering experience working in a manufacturing environment as a Supervisor, Coach or within an equivalent capacity preferred - ideally with an aerospace background.

  • Knowledge of and experience in wire arc plasma spray, vacuum furnaces, coating, braze, heat treatments, and acid strip processes.

  • Experience working with cobalt and nickel base alloys.

  • Ability to effectively supervise performance and resolution of poor performance on an individual and/or departmental basis.

  • Able to work extended hours on occasions when required.

  • Understand internal and external customer requirements with a high attention to detail in resolving product and/or process discrepancies.

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, experience with Kaizen events or experience with a continuous improvement program (ACE, 6σ, etc.); Value Stream Mapping, 5S - Workplace Organization, Continuous Flow Manufacturing, Set-up Reduction, Total Productive Maintenance, Mistake Proofing, etc.

  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering technical data, such as overhaul manuals, manufacturing or part drawings (including GD&T symbols), furnace charts, in order to provide guidance to cross functional teams.

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong presentation, planning, problem solving, organizational, project management, decision-making and employee relationship skills.

  • Ability to process and communicate information using MS Office.

  • Able to multi-task and work efficiently under pressure.

  • Demonstrated ability to interface with all levels of management, external customers, and government agencies.

Education:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent. MS degree preferred.
