Job Summary

The Manufacturing Program Specialist will be responsible for supporting the pre-production team through the activities necessary to plan and manage the transition of a new product to full-rate manufacturing. The MPS will maintain the project schedules, track materials and action items, and use risk management and change management tools.

The MPS will support multiple projects requiring a high level of organization and strong communication skills. Assignments are complex and include solving problems for which precedents do not exist but affect and involve all facets of production operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Frequent use of Lean concepts and ability to apply Lean skills in establishing Lean cell transformation.

  • Ensures quality, cost, schedule, and inventory goals are achieved in a manner consistent with the overall business plan.

  • Responsible for budget and performance on small to medium size programs (typ.<$1-2M)

  • Supports or leads Operations bids and proposals and pre-production Mfg plans.

  • Supports or leads the pre-production team through the necessary activities to plan, build and transition a new product to the full-rate manufacturing environment.

  • Coordinates the ordering and tracking of material for non-std production builds.

  • Facilitates and manages the tracking and/or maintenance of Operations program/project schedules, action items, financial and milestone performance, risk management tools, and tasks in the change management tools.

  • Prepares and presents internal and customer presentations and monthly reports.

  • Ability to work in a team-based environment. Normally receives general instructions on routine activities, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.

  • Manages day to day activities with little or no direction or instruction.

  • Builds productive working relationships internally and externally to effectively manage product transition issues/risks. Frequent internal company and occasional external company contacts.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline or in the absence of a degree six years of related experience

US Citizenship is required. Candidate must have the ability to obtain a US DoD Security Clearance. Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience.

Desired skills: Project management and SAP experience
