LEAD INVENTORY SPECIALIST
Inventory Specialist is an important role in our process and directly affects the supply chain process at our Rocket Development Facility in Texas. Located on a 4,500 acre site in central Texas, the Rocket Development Facility is responsible for testing hardware from development stages through acceptance for flight, and from component level to complete stage testing. This position will help to ensure that the inventory is correct and that our Technicians and Engineers have what they need in order to achieve our overall mission of sending humans to Mars.
Oversee the receipt, store, and issue a wide variety of parts, materials, and hardware to support site operations via manual pick or by use of the VLM (Vertical Lift Module) in both Flight and Non-Flight Materials Management Warehouses.
Pass information up and down the chain, raise issues/roadblocks, and provide feedback on a consistent basis
Ensure proper resourcing, allocation of tasks, and on-going training practices
Manage the storage capacity for parts and materials in bins, drawers, and racks, identifying part and stored location
Interface with other work centers, sites, Shipping and Receiving, Planning, Quality Control, Purchasing and other related departments to resolve problems related to receipt and distribution of material.
Serve as a primary contact and driver of the pre-kitting process, ensuring accuracy of kits, material and hardware as required, ascertaining that all parts are available and accounted for in kit prior to work center need
Constantly evaluating processes, identifying opportunities, and making recommendations to supervisor.
Maintain strict material handling practices in accordance with good practice/procedures
Responsible for reporting of shelf-life storage and maintain proper rotation of stock
Responsible for processes to analyze and maintain inventory accuracy ensuring on-time routine cycle counts
Ensure good housekeeping, safety, 5S practices in area
Support and drive organizational goals/metrics/objectives
May be required to perform other related duties as assigned
High school diploma or GED
4 years of experience in an inventory or supply chain role within an aerospace or manufacturing environment
Forklift operations experience
PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
1 year in a Lead or Supervisory role
Communication skills for relaying data (verbally and in-writing) between other employees and customers
Ability to perform in a fast paced environment while still able to maintain a high standard of accuracy
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and functions
Ability to make independent judgments with limited information
Valid forklift certification (re-testing is required)
Work performed in warehouse environment
Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying light to moderately heavy materials or equipment. Must be able to lift up to 35lbs unassisted
Valid driver’s license
Overtime hours and rotating shifts are required, sometimes with little notice; flexibility is required
