Space Flight Contingency Coordinator (Johnson Space Center)

Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Participate in milestone reviews and related activity to support Commercial Crew Transportation System (CCTS) and Exploration Ground Systems/Orion Program certification and operations, post-certification missions, and ISS readiness.

  • Develop joint and integrated operations products to support flight and contingency medical operations

  • Develop detailed operations concepts and implementation plans to support launch, landing, and contingency operations

  • Provide required landing and recovery support for all NASA Human Spaceflight missions.

  • Participate in Program level document and design reviews and develop summary operations and requirements assessments

  • Participate in identification, assessment and mitigation efforts for operational risk issues

  • Participate in the development and technical administration of contingency operations

  • Provide expertise within HHP for aviation, rescue, recovery and military-related-issues across ISS, Exploration and Commercial Crew programs

  • Assist in development of planning, training and administration of mishap response, search and recovery missions, launch and landing exercises, and collateral documentation

  • Assist the JSC Health and Medical Technical Authority as assigned

  • Interface with various DOD assets as related to landing support missions, and post mishap operations.

  • Interfacewith outside organizations in developing contingency response procedures.  

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience:

Bachelor's Degree with 4 years of relevant experience or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.

Required Skills/Training:

PC skills in Microsoft office products, knowledge of electronic.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to effectively lead teams and work independently.

Desired Education/Experience:

Experience in Aviation operations, Civilian or Military Search, Rescue and Recovery, Program and Project Management.

Desired Skills/Training:

Experience in Aerospace, Aviation, or Emergency Management Operations.
