Lockheed Martin is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for a position in Grand Prairie, TX to support the Emerging Programs Production Engineering team. Emerging Programs are a collection of programs ranging from ground based radar threat simulators, cruise missiles and short range air and missile defense products to name a few. They are in various phases of development where concepts are created, designs are evolving, advanced technologies tested and preparations are made to enter into production.

The primary mission of this position is to ensure new designs are producible (Design for Manufacture) in a full rate manufacturing environment and at a competitive cost (Design to Cost). Each program approaches these goals a little differently so flexibility is key. Frequent communication and collaboration with other disciplines including Design Engineering, Quality Engineering, Global Supply Chain, Finance, Production Planning and Control, Contracts and Program Management are required. It can also involve working directly with our government customers, proposal estimating, manufacturing readiness assessments, creating manufacturing plans, make or buy analysis, presenting at various design and manufacturing reviews, travel to various manufacturing facilities including suppliers and other Lockheed sites and any other manufacturing or tooling related issues that may arise.

The Locale: Grand Prairie is part of the “Mid-Cities” region in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex which is in the North Central region of Texas. Grand Prairie is a suburb of both Dallas and Fort Worth. The region offers a great cost of living combined with a robust economy and a pleasant climate. This North Central region of Texas is a great place to live and to raise a family. The region is home to numerous colleges and universities to include University of Texas at Dallas, University of Texas at Arlington, University of North Texas, Southern Methodist University, Southern Methodist University, and Texas Woman's University. The Mid-Cities is the suburban region filling the thirty-mile span between Dallas and Fort Worth. These communities include the cities of Arlington, Irving, Grand Prairie, Grapevine, Southlake, Colleyville, HEB (Hurst, Euless and Bedford), NRH (North Richland Hills and Richland Hills), Haltom City, Watauga, and Keller, along with multiple other smaller towns such as Trophy Club and Roanoke and together represent more people than either Dallas or Fort Worth. Basic Qualifications - Ability to obtain a security clearance - Ability to travel domestic and/or international - Proficient in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) - Manufacturing background - Process improvement experience - Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles - Ability to interpret drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, product/performance specifications and other systems integration technical data  - Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve technical/process issues varying from basic to very complex  - Demonstrated effective communication skills including verbal, listening, technical writing and presentations - Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, including team building, collaboration and developing enduring business relationships

Desired skills - Experience with development programs - Experience in design for manufacturing or design to cost - Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification  - Ability to perform trade studies and present results to leadership - Experience in machining, welding or casting of aluminum, steel and /or titanium alloys - Experience manufacturing composite structures - SAP Experience - Experience designing parts for use in harsh conditions
