Lockheed Martin Enterprise Analytics & Information Architect in Grand Prairie, Texas
The stated position will support information architecture needs of data and analytics team of $10B business area (Missiles & Fire Control) within Lockheed Martin that is growing very rapidly. The EIA efforts are key to Lockheed Martin’s top transformation initiative to become a data-driven company and leveraging advanced analytics capabilities across the various functional areas at MFC. This position is a Technology Leader role, reporting through the MFC Information Technology (MFC IT) and partner with the LM Enterprise Business Services (EBS) Enterprise Analytics & Information Management (EAIM) organization.
LM MFC uses SAP HANA high-speed, in-memory database technology as the primary database sourcing in variety of data from SAP SoH Systems, non-SAP systems, homegrown applications that comprises structured and unstructured data (IIOT streaming data, machine logs etc.). Along with SAP business intelligence environment, other emerging technologies are used by our user community to get integrated business insights in managed and self-service models. There is a sizable number of Data Scientists tap in to the data hub to build and run models for predictive and prescriptive analytics needs. In addition, there is a lot of investment made in the recent past to improve our data governance, data management capabilities using modern analytics tools such as Collibra.
The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for the overall design, implementation and sustainment of the enterprise information architecture (EIA), which describes, through a set of information requirements, principles and models, as well as the current state, future state and guidance necessary to achieve effective enterprise change that evolves with the business/market conditions. The purpose of the EIA is to facilitate the flexible sharing and exchange of enterprise information while keeping the underlying data safe and secure.
The Information Architect is expected to demonstrate their superior and distinct competency by bringing the various tools, technologies, utilities together through their business purpose centric architecture and design principles to source, integrate, model data and deliver insights in the most agile fashion with complete understanding of how the business operates and what is significant to make our business success.
Primary Responsibilities and Activities
Lead the development of the requirements, principles and models for the future-state EIA, as well as the documentation of the current-state information architecture.
Identify the gaps between the future-state and current-state information architecture and work with other enterprise architects to develop plans for moving toward the future state.
Ensure that the quality, security, stability and agility of the EIA meet evolving business needs by coordinating with other information architects, solution architects or data analysts.
Ensure EIA is properly scoped on enterprise information — those information assets that are deemed enterprise-significant as determined by business impact, decision impact, risk mitigation impact or organizational impact.
Establish the uniform and consistent identifiers, formats and protocols necessary for sharing and exchanging enterprise information (including structured and unstructured sources).
Champion efforts to improve business performance through EIA solutions and capabilities, such as business data glossary (or data governance), master data management (MDM), data virtualization techniques, metadata management, business intelligence (BI), content management, data integration, and related information management or information infrastructure components.
Contribute and oversee the implementation of EIA through the organization's enterprise information management program. Take ownership to manage the change for the architecture as business conditions evolve.
Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline
12 – 15+ years’ experience in IT architecture and/or solution delivery in diverse contexts with depth in information management architectures - structured and unstructured preferably in Aerospace & Defense or in large manufacturing industries for descriptive/diagnostic and predictive, prescriptive analytical needs
Hands on experience and in-depth knowledge of working with SAP ECC / SoH functional modules of Manufacturing Operations, Procure to Pay, Financial Planning
Extensive experience with data integration and data warehousing solutions preferably in an SAP ecosystem
Skilled in business domain modeling and logical and physical relational data modeling/design using SAP tools and other emerging tools (such as Tableau) for self-service analytics needs
Highly skilled modeler in both operational transaction and data warehouse dimensional design
Skilled in data analysis and facilitation, i.e., able to produce data designs using a variety of inputs such as requirements analysis, SME interviews, business process and data flow analysis, data profiling, etc.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong relationship building skills to influences non-technical audience including senior product and business management
Persuasive in influencing strategic architecture direction, framing reference architectures, specifying policies and standards, drive consensus on target state architectures, and influence roadmaps
Skilled in applying strategic architecture direction to project delivery using standard engagement methods
Demonstrable experience in implementing Analytical MDM for one or more subject domains in a manufacturing environment
Knowledgeable about Business Intelligence/analytics tools and their appropriate use in solutions for diverse business requirements with clarity in understanding business needs around running the business versus managing the business
Desired skills Ph.D. or master’s degree in Data Management Design Principles, Business Analysis Information Systems
Working knowledge of Product Life-cycle Management (PLM)/Engineering Design, Labor Planning, Scheduling Operations applications in heavy manufacturing environment
Prior experience in working with community of data scientists to understand their data needs, data utilization in advanced analytical use cases; familiarity with leading or emerging data science platforms and tools such as R, Python, MATLAB, Domino etc.
Experience with SAP ECC, SAP HANA, Microsoft SQL Server, as well as familiarity with ETL tools (SAP SLT, SAP Data Services) and data profiling/governance tools such as Collibra
Effective conceptualization, pattern recognition and teaming skills

Business domain, data/content and process understanding (which is more important than technical skills)
Data modeling and information classification expertise at the enterprise level
Understanding of common information architecture frameworks and information models

Familiarity with MDM, BI and data warehouse development techniques
Knowledge of problem analysis, structured analysis and design, and programming techniques
Ability to assess rapidly changing technologies and apply them to business needs
Effective communication and persuasion skills, including the ability to create marketing and messaging materials to satisfy stakeholder preferences
Ability to analyze project, program and portfolio needs, as well as to determine the resources needed to achieve objectives and overcome cross-functional barriers
