Eaton Aerospace Group, has an opening for a Supply Chain Manager in support of its Fuel & Motion Control Systems Division (FMC), located in Fort Worth, TX. This business results in over $950M in annual sales of actuation, motion control, hydraulic and fuel systems for the aerospace industry.

This role will provide leadership and optimized utilization of strategies to guide approximately 18 employees located across 10 site locations. He /She will ensure that all New Program, Supply Chain objectives are clearly defined, aligned, communicated and tracked against actual program performance. The role assumes responsibilities for identifying, developing and capturing complex subcontracted solutions in accordance with Aerospace Supply Chain, Program Management, Global sourcing and Commodity objectives. These strategies apply across both commercial and military aircraft applications. The Divisional Supply Chain Program Manager will create a culture of continuous improvement, standardized work across all sites where the challenging objectives are the norm. Manages, in a matrix environment, assign Supply Chain Program Managers (SCPMs) and supply chain activities required to ensure timely completion of all efforts associated with the project:

  • Ensures understanding critical paths with the Eaton prime program (proposal stage, pending win, win, development, test, transition to production) ensuring supplier lead times are integral to the Program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)

  • Enables management of the subcontractor versus subcontract thru detailed understanding of the supplier’s critical path, capacity, and capability.

  • Supports development and management of supply chain project plans necessary to ensure program success

  • Ensures program sourcing strategy is aligned and approved by the commodity leads

  • Develops, with support of program team, required Statements Of Work (SOW) and Performance Based Specifications (PBS) on which the award will be based

  • Supports preparation of RFP/RFQ packages

  • Leads review of proposal response and prepares team (procurement, finance, technical, quality, etc.) to audit potential suppliers

  • Ensures compliance, when applicable, with government flow-downs (FAR, DFAR, TINA, etc.)

  • Works with the commodity leads in selection of source of supply based on technical competence as well as ability to deliver a product that meets Quality / Cost / Schedule requirements

  • Evaluates supplier Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Project plan for feasibility and sufficient detail to ensure key milestones such as completion of Concept Design, Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), and Production Readiness Review (PRR) are scheduled and completed to the program plan

  • Establishes Risk Management plan with the Program Manager and Supply base to identify and mitigate risks on a real time basis

  • Technically astute to effectively interface with supplier, program office, customer, etc.

  • Ensures the Supply Chain is part of the program Integrated Product Team (IPT) consisting of a multi-disciplinary team from Eaton, customer, and the suppliers. This team conducts periodic Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM) to track progress between milestones.

  • Vision (looking forward) to see total scope of Program progress and able to move subcontractor along as necessary to keep progress moving (e.g. vision within Sourcing to detect other critical path processes that could impact subcontractor processes such as another supplier)

  • Utilizes the TIM and IPT to ensure supplier utilizes best practice Design to Cost (DTC) and Design for Manufacture / Assembly (DFA/M) methodology to achieve best Quality / Cost / Schedule performance


Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in business, economics, supply chain management, or engineering

  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in an Aerospace environment, metal fabrication, electronics, purchasing, and materials management positions.

  • Background and knowledge in/or has Oracle, MFG/Pro, Cognos and other equivalent software packages.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree

  • CPIM, CIRM, C.P.M. and/or PMP certification desired.

  • Program/ Subcontract Management experience of complex, multi-million dollar, supplier of a major program(s)

  • Vision (looking forward) to see total scope of Program progress and able to move subcontractor along as necessary to keep progress moving (e.g. vision within Sourcing to detect other critical path processes that could impact subcontractor processes such as another supplier)

  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization. Ability to interface at all levels is key. Major support activities with Corporate, Customer, Marketing, Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing

  • Thorough knowledge of materials, lean manufacturing, source of supply, purchasing policies and procedures, supplier capabilities, performance and improvement, and information systems.

  • Knowledge of institutional problem solving tools/processes such as cycle time reduction and process improvement tools: Six Sigma, DMAIC methodology, Kaizen, DOE, Pareto Charts, Statistical process control, Process mapping, Tree diagrams, Root cause analysis, Analytical software programs

  • Business Acumen (Defense/Military environment, Functionally) and recognized expertise in Military/Defense Industry; keen understanding of the defense markets and business segments

  • Proficient in the development and tracking of internal metrics

  • Knowledge of database and application software concepts and structures, as well as ERP implementation

  • Strong planning/project management skills
