Flight Control Law Engineer
Flight Control Law Engineer opportunities are available at Bell Helicopter for the V-280 Future Vertical Lift Program. These positions may be located at Bell Helicopter’s headquarters facility in Ft. Worth, TX or the Bell Flight Research Center in Arlington, TX.
The Flight Control Law Engineer will be responsible for:
Development of air vehicle flight control laws (stability & control), flight director, navigation, guidance, and autonomous systems control algorithms
Conduct linear and non-linear analysis, modeling and simulation, and piloted evaluation of aircraft control and handling qualities
Design and test of Flight Control System (FCS) control law software in compliance with DO-178 standards
System and software design, requirements management, systems specifications, interface management, system safety assessment, verification and validation testing in desktop simulation environment and systems integration labs, aircraft flight test, and aircraft/system qualification and certification
Support development of systems architecture, redundancy management, and actuator design and integration
- Bachelor’s Degree is required. Major in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering is preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Electrical, or other Engineering disciplines will be considered.
- Masters Degree in the Engineering disciplines mentioned above is preferred.
Experience at all levels will be considered, including entry-level with relevant research or project experience. At least 5 years experience is preferred.
Familiarity with model based systems engineering
Familiarity with ADS-33 and other handling qualities specifications
Experience with creation of system specifications, requirements traceability, and verification. Preferred experience with Enovia, DOORS, and Serena Dimensions
Experience with flight control system development and testing in a systems integration lab
Experience with aircraft testing
Candidates must be eligible to obtain Secret Security Clearance
Experience with Primary Development Environments:
MathWorks MATLAB / Simulink with Stateflow and Embedded Coder
C# test scripts
IBM Rational DOORS
