DRS EOIS – Mechanical engineering design candidate would become a key member of an integrated product team tasked to develop sensors and related military products. The duties would primarily be associated with the mechanical design of infrared sensors and cameras. As part of DRS' multidiscipline team, the successful candidate would be involved in mechanical concept to detailed design, as well as supporting the integration and testing of products.
Basic Qualifications and Required Skills
BSME with 20+ year’s experience in mechanical design
15+ year’s experience in defense and aerospace industry
Electronics packaging experience
Excellent grasp of principles of machine element design and heat transfer
Extensive knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Microsoft Office Suite of tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Communicate well, both in verbal presentations and in written documentation.
DOE and practical problem solving
Experience designing, planning, and testing to requirements of MIL-STD-810
Ability to work in a team environment
Must be a motivated, self-starter
15+ years in Electro-Optical design
Structural and Thermal FEA analysis
Mechanism design experience
Military avionics design experience
Experience with infrared imaging and lasers
Failure analysis and analytical skills
Proficiency using Mathcad and/or Matlab
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead mechanical activities on LRU level product design:
Assist with specification generation (including flow-down component level specification)
Direct product design and modeling, material selection, structural and thermal analyses
Transition of products into production
Coordination with subcontractors and suppliers
Support product through qualification level testing
Support of customer level design reviews
Design, develop, and implement technical solutions to complex problems
Transitioning current and future development designs through qualification and into production
Creation of engineering drawings and engineering documentation
Mentoring junior level engineers
Other duties as assigned
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. up to 20% of the time
