IHS Markit Senior Research Analyst in Austin, Texas

The analyst will be responsible for collecting and analyzing market research information from a variety of sources and produce evidence based market research reports to enable informed customer/client decision making. The analyst also markets and sells market research reports and supports our clients and internal stakeholders as a subject matter expert. Specific Job Duties:1. Create report/project scope and proposal documentCall or visit customers to discuss their requirementsConsider common themes/requirements & decide what to include/excludeProduce proposal documentWork with direct line manager and product manager to develop new products and services2. Pre sales/marketingIdentify leading suppliers in the market and contacts within these companiesSend proposal document to potential clientsDrive marketing activity for each research project, including e-marketing and web campaigns3. Plan the projectDevise and evaluate methods and procedures for collecting dataProduce detailed project plan and sales targetsFinalise report scope4. Conduct researchConduct face to face and telephone interviews and write upDevelop and issue supplier questionnaireCollate secondary researchMonitor industry statistics & trends in trade literature5. Analyse data and prepare reportAssemble, structure & analyse all data collectedProduce base year data and forecasts in excel.Make estimates where data is missing or incompleteHighlight key findings and trends in written textIllustrate key data graphically6. Market & Sell reportPrepare sales brochure and send to targeted list of prospectsTelephone or visit potential customers. Contact key prospects and close salesPrepare press releases. Interface with editors to ensure press coverageSpeak at conferences/visit customers/attend trade shows to promote report and coverage Required Education:Our ideal candidate will ideally have a good degree in an electronics/engineering related subject, however applications will be considered from graduates with a good business/science degree. Required Experience:Minimum of 5 years experience working within a professional market research or commercial organisation is preferred.Experience of industrial software development, sales, or usage and/or implementation. Other skills:Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts and analysis to clients and internal stakeholdersProficiency with MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); experience with databases helpful.Requires a keen attention to detail and highly effective organization skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.Requires demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills in a deadline-oriented environment.Must be flexible with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all coworkers.The applicant will preferably have some experience or a keen interest in industrial automation.Must be able to meet the attendance requirements of the position. Travel:This position will require some international travel. Some travel may also occur outside of normal working hours. Location:The position will be based in the US.
