Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Buyer to support production operations for our STS and ABC Business Areas located in Hudson, New Hampshire and Austin, Texas. This position will reside in Austin, TX. The ideal candidate will have experience procuring a wide variety of electronics in a rapidly changing, quick turn environment.This position requires a high level of interaction with operations and engineering teamswhile following required Procurement Policies and Procedures. Responsible primarily for tactical procurement activities exercising business judgment to execute a comprehensive purchasing strategy resulting in superior cost, quality, and availability performance.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Bachelor Degree

At least 4 years of procurement, planning, material management, subcontract, or related experience with suppliers, costs, and schedules is anticipated.

Ability to evaluate program needs, identify and develop integrated and detailed supply chain and return to green plans.

Ability to effectively influence supplier performance including the implementation of corrective actions and recovery plans as necessary.

Demonstrated knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools, configuration systems (PDM), inventory, shop floor workbench (SFW) and production planning techniques.

Experience required in developing and communicating program requirements to supply base. In addition to the items listed above, the Essential Functions are: 1. Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties 2. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; 3. Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel, customers and suppliers; 4. Utilize computer skills to prepare appropriate reports and documents; 5. Make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations; 6. Analyze, evaluate, develop and implement processes and systems within budget and adhere to time requirements and schedule; 7. Design and develop products and services using state-of-the-art technology, principles, theories and concepts.

Preferred Skills and Education

In depth experience sourcing electronics

C.P.M/CPSM Certification from the Institute for Supply Management

Familiarity with FAR/DFAR

Experience with challenging material and suppliers on defense and aerospace programs. Experience with supplier relationships, cost, delivery schedule, and material quality attributes.
