Systems Engineer Sr II



L-3 Link Simulation and Training is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer or Avionics Engineer to provide technical expertise for the definition, design, testing, verification, and validation of total training systems solutions used in military flight and maintenance training systems.


  • Control the design and development of systems

  • Execute system engineering efforts within the allotted budget and schedule

  • Determine, clarify, understand, document, and disseminate the expectations of customers and end users

  • Design and develop solutions that meet or exceed customer and end user expectations

  • Lead and/or participate in all phases of system design, including customer/end user interface, requirements capture and analyses, aircraft and simulator systems architecture decomposition, development of architectural views, aircraft and simulator interface analysis, detailed design support, integration support, test procedure development, and test support

  • Orchestrate efforts of team members and incorporate their knowledge in the design

  • Reach customer and end user concurrence on requirements and design solutions

  • Ensure processes and procedures for analyses, designs, developments, implementations and evaluations of training systems are effective to meet customer and end user expectations

  • Ensure coordination of the project technical development to maximize reuse of existing designs while integrating technology enhancements consistent with company strategic objectives as appropriate

  • Create and maintain project and product line systems documentation in order to support project documentation deliverables and follow-on development efforts across the product line

  • Others as assigned



  • Experience interfacing with customers and end users

  • Ability to explain technical concerns to customers and end users

  • Ability to lead a team of engineers

  • Self-motivated to address, evaluate, and if necessary, correct concerns and discrepancies

  • Experience with aircraft avionics, standard aircraft avionics interfaces, aircraft systems, and the associated environment

  • Ability to research and interpret aircraft avionics diagrams and aircraft OEM design documents to derive applicable simulator requirements, architecture, and behavior

  • Working knowledge of requirement management (DOORSTM) and configuration control

  • Organizational skills and integrity to run rigorous systems design and development while holding to the contractual requirements

Additional Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Systems Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or other technical field

  • Knowledge or experience related to modern aircraft avionics, visual sensors, aircraft survivability equipment, voice / digital communications equipment, and airborne weapon systems

  • Related experience in use of simulation training devices and products

  • Demonstrated experience developing long-term business relationships with the customer or end user community

  • Obtain or be eligible to obtain a DOD Top secret security clearance
