Project Engineer



The Program Engineer (PE) leads, coordinates, and exercises technical program execution authority over Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) for planning, organizing, controlling, integration, execution of, and close out of engineering content on a variety of simulation programs. The position will work closely with senior level program engineering technical leadership and management.


  • The PE performs as the technical lead over the assigned engineering team on a program to include leading/participating in program peer & gate reviews, supporting program management reviews (PMRs), and coordinating technical activity amongst the program IPTs

  • The PE performs weekly/monthly Cost Account Management (CAM) reviews with IPTs and is responsible for technical, cost and schedule performance for the engineering content on a program

  • The PE is the primary technical focal point with the customer

  • The PE receives engineering direction from and is accountable to a Program Engineering Manager (PEM), who has overall Program Engineering responsibility for successfully proposing, developing and delivering simulation solutions

  • The PE receives program and contractual direction from and is accountable to a Program Manager (PM) who has overall responsibility for profit and loss and technical, cost and schedule performance on a program. There may be cases where a PM structure is not in place and the PE will work with other L3 divisions or subcontractors

  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Sciences or equivalent experience

  • Experience with Problem solving, Proposal writing, Earned Value Management (EVMS), Risk management, Full-lifecycle systems development, Leadership, Management of multi-disciplinary teams, and Microsoft Office

  • Prefer 5 years of experience working with DOD customers

  • Prefer 3 years of experience in the training and simulation industry

  • Prefer 3 years Engineering Lead experience


  • Active Secret DOD security clearance or be able to obtain one

  • Experience with Clear Case, Clear Quest, DOORS

  • Demonstrated experience performing as liaison between program management, engineering management, and the technical disciplines involved in a project

  • Demonstrated experience with agile software development
