Arconic Fastening Systems and Rings (AFSR) is seeking an Engineering Associate Designer to design and create drawings of fasteners, installation systems and related items from specifications, sketches, other drawings, and verbal/written instructions. This role will administer approval and dissemination of engineering information into databases through traceable documentation; maintain engineering information for non-Arconic businesses in special secured data systems; and work with Manufacturing to resolve problems and improve processes. The Engineering Associate Designer will also serve as the Technical Focal Point (TFP) for the AFSR Waco Import-Export (IMEX) program for compliance with US trade and commerce law, such as shipping classifications. The position is located at our industrial fastener manufacturing plant in Waco, TX.

Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component design.
Design or modify fasteners, installation tooling, dies/tools, and related items using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software.
Prepare manufacturing, coordination and quotation drawings, and other Engineering documents such as specifications and inspection standards, so that they can be approved and released for use.
Integrate approved Engineering documents into appropriate data bases for use by other departments, including Manufacturing, Inspection, Packaging, Accounting, Purchasing, Marketing and Customer Service.
Have a good working knowledge of computer programs such as Lotus Notes, One Space, Solid Works, Baan and Oracle to load Engineering documents into the appropriate data base.
Document additions and changes to Engineering data bases with computer programs such as Product Release/Change Notices and Special Product Requests.
Generate and populate secure folders of approved documents to be used by non-Arconic businesses for manufacture and inspection of specific Huck product.
Maintain secure folders with updated revisions of existing documents or new documents as-needed.
Remove obsolete documents from secure folders when they are no longer required.
Identify and modify product designs and processes to correct operating deficiencies or to eliminate problems.
Work with people inside and outside of Engineering to standardize items that are common to multiple departments, such as head markings and part classification.
Provide AFSR Waco employees and vendors with IMEX classification assistance.
Assign and maintain IMEX classification for all new and existing AFS products, machinery, technical drawings and documents, and maintain the Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) list.
Approve Miscellaneous Shipper (MS) submissions and enter IMEX classifications for shipments.
Keep a current base of relevant Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and AFS mandates on foreign visitors and signage.
Participate in IMEX training programs to keep current with requirements and practices.
Maintain full compliance with Company policies and procedures and conducts all activities in accordance with the Arconic Guide to Business Conduct.
Demonstrate a knowledge of and commitment to Arconic Business System (Lean Manufacturing) principles and techniques.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; able to juggle and complete multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Minimum Years of Experience:
Drafting and design experience in a high volume industrial product manufacturing environment
5+ years of drafting/design experience
Experience with 3D CAD software
Experience with OneSpace or ME-10 CAD software
Experience with MRP systems (Baan preferred)

Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution in CAD, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Architecture, Interior Design, or Engineering
Minimum 2 years of experience performing drafting and design
