The Boeing Company Cyber Security Specialist in Richardson, Texas

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Cyber Security Specialist to join it Richardson, TX team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Integrates and analyzes security technical controls for multiple projects/products with defined requirements. Defines security product specifications and intrusion/data loss techniques. Designs, integrates and configures controls. Monitors network, computing, and host-based security alerting systems and event logs. Performs initial event/loss assessment and validation. Communicates system vulnerability details and attribution actions for further disposition.

Defines and develops requirements sets to mitigate gaps. Evaluates intrusion detection/prevention and data loss prevention tools for applicability and effectiveness. Adapts and deploys tools. Installs intrusion prevention actions to intrusion sets. Performs initial event/loss assessment and validation. Activates and assists with incident response. Documents anomalies, monitors usage/action taken, performs trend analysis and recommends actions.

Typical Education/Experience:

Technical bachelor's degree and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or a Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.

Required Skills:

  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

  • This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

  • This position requires an active Top Secret Clearance.

  • Demonstrated ability to work iteratively with customers to gather and document requirements.

  • Ability to work across a diverse team of software and systems engineers, technicians, and security specialists in a dynamic environment.

  • MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel.

  • Cybersecurity and Information Protection: Security certification.

  • Training to work in multiple Security Classification levels.

Security Clearance/Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position.

Much of the work at The Boeing Company is of a classified nature and many positions require a security clearance, the granting of which is at the discretion of government authorities. Applicants must have a current Top Secret Security clearance. Additionally, applicants must be able to obtain program access. Security clearance upgrades and/or program access request will be initiated after the applicant's acceptance of the contingent offer. Filling this requisition is contingent based on the applicant's ability to obtain the required program access in a time frame established by program management. Relocation to Dallas, Texas will not be authorized before appropriate access is granted.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Information Assurance policies and procedures and the ability to apply IA requirements to an existing system.

  • Security engineering skills with a working knowledge of Information Assurance (IA) technology, NIST standards, DoDI 8500.2 and SP 800-53.

  • Experience in the Cybersecurity Lifecycle to include: generating IA requirements, creating IA architecture design, configuring IA audit tools, conducting IA verification and performing IA compliance.

  • Recent hands on Assessment & Authorization (A&A) experience creating IACAP and/or RMF accreditation packages.

  • Strong working knowledge of IA concepts such as patch management, two-factor authentication, host-based security, intrusion detection, security event management and defense-in-depth.

  • Experience in security architecture design, Security Audit tools, security requirements generation, security testing, administration of security devices such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems.

  • A strong understanding of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGS), HBSS, ACAS, Software Assurance techniques & tools

  • Additionally, experience with security products such as vulnerability scanning and network assessment tools.
