Lockheed Martin is seeking a Structural Dynamics Engineer to perform analysis, research, and design in such areas as mechanical, structures, or dynamics for development or production programs. The effort is on complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious. The assignment addresses analysis and research encompassing multiple engineering disciplines, and also includes the planning, design, development, and testing of new aerospace products.

In addition to performing structural analysis, the candidate will be responsible for project leadership and coordination of technical, schedule, and budgetary issues for the structural and dynamic analysis and testing of top level assemblies, subsystems, and components.

Mechanical Engineering tasks assigned will include dynamics analysis support in development of missile configurations and canisters, generation of finite element models (FEM) and performing structural dynamic analyses, generation of classical structural dynamics analysis, and evaluation of design for issues or possible alternate design approaches. Additional experience performing tasks such as missile tip-off analysis, modal analysis, flexible flight loads, and test plan development/test support. Tasks also include performing preliminary and detailed structural and dynamic analysis on component and assemblies using standardized processes and tools. Tasks may also include providing support for structural or dynamic testing of systems, subsystems, and components. Candidate will perform structural and dynamic analysis using standardized analysis software tools and coordinate requirements and design solutions with program personnel. Experienced with relevant analytic tools for structural and dynamics analysis.

The candidate will provide technical documentation and input to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, present analysis data to program and customer personnel at technical interchange meetings, and design reviews.

The Locale: Grand Prairie is part of the “Mid-Cities” region in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex which is in the North Central region of Texas. Grand Prairie is a suburb of both Dallas and Fort Worth. Basic Qualifications -Bachelors or Masters degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (or related field).

Candidate must be a US Citizen be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance. -Structural and dynamics experience in the aerospace industry. -Experience with structural and dynamic analysis of assembly systems, subsystems, and components. -Demonstrated strength in structural and dynamics analysis with a desire to learn more and demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills. -Proficiency with core structural and dynamics software (Nastran, Abaqus or comparable software). -Proficiency with core or second tier pre and post processing tools (Ansa, Meta, Hypermesh, Patran, and/or FEMAP). -Experience performing structural and dynamics analysis using classical methods. -Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). -Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for generating structural analysis plans, structural analysis reports, documentation, and potentially proposals are necessary. -Candidate must have strong analytical and organizational skills. -Candidate must have the ability to travel.

Desired skills -Experience with CAD modeling using PTC CREO, FORTRAN programming, Nastran, Abaqus, finite element pre and post processors, and MMPDS. -Experience with MATLAB and MathCAD. -Experience performing Flutter Analysis, and supporting Flutter flight testing. -Experience desirable with rigid body dynamics tools (ex = ADAMS). -Proven leadership with demonstrated interpersonal skills. -Creativity/innovation to solve issues related to structural and dynamic performance of any aspect of structure. -Experience developing and analyzing structures for strength and stability. -Experience writing structural and component specifications and system/subsystem/component test plans. -Capable of performing in a fast paced, dynamic environment and working in an inclusive, team environment. -Considered experienced, but still a learner.
