Lockheed Martin Mechanical Engineer Associate - Grand Prairie, TX in Grand Prairie, Texas
Lockheed Martin is seeking a Propulsion Engineer to perform propulsion engineering research, design, evaluation, and testing in order to provide mechanical engineering support for multiple aspects associated with solid rocket motor (SRM) propulsion systems during their development and/or production. The effort involves complex technical problems that require solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious.
The candidate will be responsible for attending technical issues for the propulsion system to include its various subsystems and components leading up to and including supporting the integration of the propulsion system into the Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control rocket and/or missile systems. Tasks include supporting the product design, interface development, coordination with other analysis group engineers, Materials, Production Operations, and other departments. This includes supporting system level trade studies, supporting missile level packaging studies, supporting development of interface control drawings, performance specifications and statement of requirements that will be sent to the propulsion system subcontractor for use in propulsion system development and production.
The candidate will have exposure to the Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) suppliers, as required to satisfy program requirements. The candidate will also support analysis to assess the design relative to its required environments and design constraints. Additional efforts include participation in verifying all technical requirements are meet, review of design package information, preparation of test plans, support to propulsion testing and test results, supporting technical interchange meetings and design reviews, support hardware fabrication and testing.
Basic Qualifications BS degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, or related field. Propulsion engineering and analysis in education or the aerospace industry.
Understanding of propulsion systems engineering, with a desire to learn more. Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Desire to perform in a fast paced, dynamic environment, and working in an inclusive, team environment. Considered educated, but still a learner.
Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Strong writing and verbal communication skills for supporting the generation of various specifications, statement of requirements, test plans, test reports and presentations.
Candidate must have strong analytical and organizational skills. Candidate must have the ability to travel. Candidate must be able to obtain a security clearance.
Desired skills MS degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
Demonstrated propulsion system engineering related experience. The candidate should be considered knowledgeable and proficient, but is still a learner with emerging technologies.
Candidate must have highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills. The candidate must also have demonstrated creativity/innovation to solve issues.
