Head of Manufacturing Engineering

To lead regional deployed manufacturing engineering team to deliver zero defect programs across the North American Region. Build a multi-disciplined, process control focused, regional manufacturing engineering team that eliminate defects through deployment of GKN Aerospace global manufacturing engineering tool suite. Act as regional functional leader for manufacturing engineering; deploying GKN Aerospace global manufacturing engineering strategy in conjunction with counterparts from the other regions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and execute the strategy enabling the deployed regional manufactuing engineering team to deliver zero defect projects in the operating businesses.
Plans, organizes and controls all activities of the deployed regional manufacturing engineering team delivering business level results.
Integrates GKN Aerospace global manufacturing engineering initiatives into the North American manufacturing engineering strategy.
Build a culture of process control mindset in the manufacturing engineering teams across the operating businesses in the region.
Develop technical solutions to complex problems through root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to eliminate non-conformances.
Develop and deliver manufacturing engineering training strategy for the region to ensure complete alignment and understanding of the GKN Aerospace global engineering tool suite. Provide coaching support to collegues in the operating businesses.
Delivers measurable, metrics driven results for the projects to which they and their team are assigned.
Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers
Leads and champions Lean initiatives in the manufacturing engineeeing function
Performs other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned
B.S. degree in mechanical, industrial, chemical or aerospace engineering or related engineering discipline.
10+ years of experience in manufacturing environment, with 5+ years in aerospace manufacturing. With preference for at least 2 years’ experience in composites or assembly manufacturing.
Minimum of 5 years’ management, incorporating both technical expertise and team leadership and including: management of multi-discipline technical teams (i.e. manufacturing engineering); direct management of a production support organization; and leading technical teams to solve problems in a manufacturing setting.
U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements
Aerostructures (metallics and/or composites) or assembly manufacturing experience preferred.
Must be a self-starter and have proven abilities with project planning and management. In addition, must have demonstrated effective leadership of individuals and groups.
